The Study of Motivation Role and Structure in Learning a Foreign Language Based on Information Processing Model (Case Study of Iranian Oil Terminals Company)

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the role and structure of motivation in learning a foreign language in order to introduce the model ofinformation processing as a new approach and scale to evaluate themotivation of foreign languages.For this purpose,two hundred and fifty participant employees ofthe Iranian Oil Terminals Company enrolled in the English language training courses were selected by using Morgan's table and the random sampling methods.These participants answered the researcher's questionnaire, which was based on the mentioned model. In this study,content validity was used to test validity,Cronbachs alpha coefficient to test perpetuity and one sample T-test for data analyzing.The results of the analysis showed that the Tvalue obtained for triple stages of Information Processing Model is significant.According to the results of this research participants have desirable motivation in input stage,medium level in the central processing stage and little motivation for learning a foreign language in output stage.
