However, very few studies have focused on the evaluation of English-language textbooks in primary education in Iran. The purpose of this study was to evaluate English language teaching textbooks in junior high school from the perspective of students and teachers. To achieve this goal, 8 junior high school teachers with an average of 7 years of teaching and 261 students of the seventh, eighth and ninth grades participated as participants in this study. The textbooks were evaluated based on a questionnaire designed and validated in 1979, comprising 25 questions in six contexts: The suitability of topics, the vocabulary and structure of the book, the appropriateness of the exercises, the suitability of the images, and the physical make-up of the book. The results of the interviews were compared with the results of the questionnaires. Finally, the results of this study showed that from the perspective of students the Prospect Book series in many respects does not meet the needs of students and is not efficient. The results of this study can be used by teachers, educational planners, and textbook writers. در سال‌های اخیر، با پیشرفت و گسترش استفاده از روش‌های  گوناگون در آموزش زبان انگلیسی، ارزیابی کتاب‌های آموزشی به‌‌طورقابل‌ ملاحظه‌ای مد نظر قرارگرفته است. بااین‌حال، شمار اندکی از پژوهش‌ها در کشور ما، با تمرکز بر ارزیابی کتاب‌های  آموزش زبان انگلیسی در مقطع متوسطه اول در ایران(Prospect)  صورت گرفته است. پژوهش حاضر، باهدف ارزیابی کتاب‌های  آموزش زبان انگلیسی در مقطع متوسطۀ اول، از دیدگاه دانش‌آموزان و دبیران انجام‌شده است. به‌‌منظور سرانجام این هدف، 8 نفر از معلمان دورة متوسطه اول، با میانگین سابقه 7 سال آموزش در این مقطع، همچنین 261 نفر از دانش‌آموزان پایه‌های  هفتم، هشتم و نهم، به‌‌عنوان گروه شرکت‌کنندگان در این مطالعه همکاری کردند. کتاب‌های  درسی براساس پرسشنامه‌ای که در سال 1979 طراحی و اعتبار‌سنجی شده و شامل 25 سؤال در شش زمینه مشتمل بر: مناسب بودن موضوعات، واژگان و ساختارها، تمرین‌ها، تصاویر، و آرایش فیزیکی کتاب‌ها، بررسی و واکاوی شد. با طرح پرسش‌‌هایی همسو با محتوا، در مرحلۀ مصاحبه با دبیران و دانش‌آموزان، نتایج به‌‌دست‌آمده با نتایج پرسشنامه‌ها مقایسه شدند. سرانجام، نتایج این مطالعه نشان‌داد که از منظر دانش‌آموزان و دبیران، مجموعه کتاب‌‌های Prospect در بسیاری از زمینه‌ها نیازهای دانش‌آموزان را برآورده نکرده و کارایی بایسته را ندارد. نتایج به‌‌دست‌آمده در این پژوهش می‌تواند توسط معلمان، مسئولان برنامه‌ریزی آموزشی، مولفان و نویسندگان کتاب‌های درسی مورد استفاده قرار گیرد. https://jflr.ut.ac.ir/article_78585_c4f53b891796759c6ccafc52bfdca5a0.pdf
